The federal budget.

This was in my email this morning, interesting way to look at things....

The U.S. Congress sets a federal budget every year in the trillions of dollars. Few people know how much money that is so we created a breakdown of federal spending in simple terms. Let's put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:

U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000
·  Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
·  New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
·  National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
·  Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000 (about 1 percent of the budget)

It helps to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to. Therefore, let's remove eight zeros from these numbers and pretend this is the household budget for the fictitious Jones family.

·  Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
·  Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
·  Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
·  Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
Amount cut from the budget: $385

If this was your household financial statement would you be comfortable?

Wireless telecom ripe for drone surveillance

How about another compelling reason to stick to landlines, USPS letters, homing pigeons or owls to relay messages?

These nifty drones can easily intercept private citizens' communications, more directly and far-reaching than wire-tapping ever could. It would seem a waste of those fancy drones to listen in on our boring conversations, wouldn't it? Yet, the U.S. House recently voted to force providers to hang onto records of our Internet use. So, there is a certain level of interest in having what we common people are saying and thinking about at its fingertips. Private interests could probably rent or buy a drone to spy or skim off wireless data, too.

At least, Rep. Sensenbrenner acknowledged that H.R. 1981 "poses numerous risks that well outweigh any benefits." Wonder if he knows about the drones yet.

Sperm The Musical?

I really hope this is not coming to a theater near me.

Rep Vos asks....

Should recall elections be limited to severe ethical issues?

A touch of humor....

Subject: San Diego woman shot in head

Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries.  Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the driveway with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head.  He became concerned and walked over to the car.  He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open and she looked very strange.  He asked her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and had been holding her brains in for over an hour.

The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her head.

When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head.  A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head.  When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains.  She initially passed out, but quickly recovered.

Linda is a Democrat and an Obama supporter, but that could all be a coincidence.

(The defective biscuit canister was analyzed and it was determined to be Bush's fault.)

So.......

So the Wisconsin (R)s held onto control of the State Senate.

Shouldn't they be calling a special session to destroy Medicare?

Why is worried Wirch & still chasing his base??

Kenosha; The Wirch campaign is focusing on Pro-Life and Pro-Choice issues??  Why would they do that?  They are avoiding issues and just focusing on Jonathan Steitz' "Corporate Lawyer" status.  Class warfare??  A few weeks ago the Dem's weren't worreid abotu this seat..now they are behaving differently!  This is interesting considering those are the issues you run to when your trying to mobilize your BASE! With 6 days left Wirch's folks can't even get their Base mobilized?    After yesterdays failure to capture the Flag of 3 Seats in the State Senate..and the Meltdown's from Zelinski and Tate..it could be they see this seat slipping away.   Polling from Monday (Before the vote), shows this race is Tightening fast.. Low single digits!!!  Last week it was 10 points..Steitz is closing fast and thousands of new dollars cascaded into the campaign office since last night!  JS has the momentum..and Wirch's folks are worried.   With only 2 races left..it'll be a rocking week!  The GOP voters showed up with 185,000 of 350,000 voters and 53% of the vote.  If Kenosha Co. and Burlington do the same Wirch is Toast.

Round 1 leaves Wirch in a Lurch! Trouble in the 22nd Senate district!

This is the spokesmouth of Wisconsin democrats. Slinging accustaions without an ounce of proof.

Shame.

Thanks Wisconsin!

The unions spent millions in their attempt to take ove the Wisconsin Senate.

The people said no.

The Racine Water Department.

What (public health) blindspot do Petri, Kohl, Leibham and Kestell have in common?

This.

Winners, losers and whiners.

Wisconsin will face recall elections on the next two Teusdays.

Who will be the winners, losers and whiners?

Winners?  Those who reaped the benefits of the tens of millions of dollars spent on political advertising.

Losers?  Those of us who had to be subjected to said advertisement who don't even have anything to go to the polls about.

Whiners?  Why those who lose on the next two Tuesdays of course.
