Kloppenberg to victims.... I'm busy leave me alone.

Talk about SHAME

What do Ron Kind, Tammy Baldwin, Herb Kohl, Paul Ryan and Ron Johnson have in common?

No, this is not an April Fool's joke.

Should the FCC shift support from landlines to broadband?

I got an email from a friend that brought the following to my attention:

The FCC believes that the switched telephone network (i.e. telephone lines and switching centers) is obsolete and should be dismantled. Therefore FCC's policy is to phase out telephone lines during the coming years and replace them with broadband service. In other words, the FCC wants ordinary telephones to be entirely replaced with cell phones and computers (voice over Internet). The first step is to take money that is now being used to subsidize rural telephone service and subsidize broadband (i.e. Internet) services instead.

I know many people enjoy the benefits of using cell phones, but landlines have their benefits and should not be phased out. Pros and cons of landlines can be found here, here and here. In a nutshell, landlines do not offer mobility and cost more, but they come in handy and can be crucial in emergencies when cell phone reception is uneven or you can't find where you put the dang thing. Switched lines also let emergency personnel know your location.

Other problems with cell phones include privacy issues. Anyone with the right frequency can tap into conversations. The tiny, fragile devices can be lost or broken and need to be charged to work, not possible when the power is out. Some folks who forget to charge their cell once in a while also run into problems.

Some individuals prefer not to use cell phones for health reasons. The health risks of cell phones are gradually being verified. Some of that information is referenced here, here and here. The truth is that cell phones are not proven to be safe, especially for children. Parents who want to protect their kids from being guinea pigs for wireless radiation need to have landlines available. People with medical implants are also reporting interference from radiofrequency devices, including cell phones. Plus nearly ten million Americans have electromagnetic sensitivities (3%) and if landlines are no longer available, we will end up with no telephones we can routinely use.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be able to use cell phones, but that we should have the choice and option to use landlines as a backup or primary phone. The FCC intends to end our ability to choose. They are accepting comments on this until April 18.

Union Extortion, Thanks For The Motivation

Read my latest on Red County.

Capper....

Being himself.

Calling a thug a thug apparently does not agree with him.

Who put out the death threats?

Update: A 26 year-old teacher....

Attention Don Rosen, do you still think these were made up?

Update 2: It would seem the left wing DA in Madison is not doing his job.

The REA Endorses...

The political endorsements by the REA have come out and no surprise it is all the democratic candidates, plus Kloppenburg.

Supposedly the members are canvassed about whom the REA should endorse. They send out a form to all members that list all candidates, but indicate who each member should choose.

A couple of interesting things to take note of are:

A rather unscientific polling on my part indicated that nearly every teacher I spoke with (even liberal-leaners) are not in support of the referenda by RUSD. Yet the REA is suggesting we vote YES on all 3. Pure speculation on my part suggests that this endorsement may have been coerced through the speedy contract negotiations.

The REA also endorses Ken Hall for Country Executive. Why does the union care who the County Exec is?

Basically the endorsement process consists of pick the name followed by the letter "D." Why they waste time and money on this process is beyond me.

AFSCME using Extortion tactics

Right out of the Mafia play book comes the latest tactic being used by the public employee union to force support for their efforts on the path of economic unsustainability in Wisconsin. "If you are not for us then we will boycott and ruin you" is the threat from AFSCME. They don't care about a small business owner who may honestly want to stay out of the fray and just run their business.

This is why it is critical that conservatives and independant voters turn out in huge numbers for the April election. We did it last November and now it's time to re-enforce that vote by demonstrating to the Libs and the union bosses that they will no longer be allowed to manhandle our government and screw the taxpayers.

Any Lawyers out there willing to bring an extortion law suit? That's what it is.

Obama Doctrine:

Spread the wealth.

Suckers.

The Visibility Event

The latest from the REA anger department is asking for teachers and "labor-friendly people" to show up at various locations on Monday April 4th for an informational picket. This so-named "Visibility Event" exists so that more whining can occur because my union brothers and sisters are unable to accept the reality of Wisconsin's economic climate. One might say it is invisible to them.

The locations where the pointless sign holding will take place are:
  • The Intersection of Hwys 31 & 20
  • Northwestern Ave near Rapids Drive
  • Monument Square
Picketers are encouraged to leave right at contract time and head directly to their prescribed location. I'm sure all of the support they garner with their pre-fab signs, T-shirts, and old tyme chants will sway many a driver.

How about that!

Did you know that the Libyan uprising is because of Obama?

I didn't either.

Is there anything he can't do?

UPDATE:  Apparently the article was removed, here was the first paragraph.

Anti-genocide advocate credits Obama for Libyan uprising (Samantha Power)
Washington Times ^

White House aide Samantha Power, a former news reporter turned anti-genocide advocate, said President Obama’s two-year campaign to promote human rights helped trigger the uprising in Libya against Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s rule. In a speech Monday at Columbia University, Ms. Power, director of multilateral affairs at the National Security Council, defended her support for the military operation against Libyan government forces and said the president’s efforts, through speeches in various foreign capitals, made it easier for other nations to stand with the United States against tyrants.

a "crazy" restriction on mobility.

A Peaceful Riot....

And you thought the US Media was biased.

Two Questions

If any public union lemmings can honestly answer these two questions, on their own, then perhaps someone will listen.

1. Why are you entitled to the high level of benefits obtained through bargaining privileges your private sector counter parts do not have?

2. Why should John Q. Taxpayer feel sympathy for your loss of bargaining privileges?

Note- Use of the terms "Walker," "Corporate Greed," "Bush," Fat Cats," or synonyms of said terms will disqualify your answer. Please try to think for yourself.

'journalists should be protected and allowed to do their work.'

So sayeth Presidential Spokesmouth Jay Carney.

Unless of course that journalist may want to ask some questions at a fundraiser Joe Biden is at.  If that is the case said journalists shall be locked in a closet.

The lefties are unhinged in Denver too.

Have you noticed a common theme?  Wisconsin, Greece, London this weekend, all over the world when government employees have to take a bit less they become completely unhinged.

The gauntlet of union hate

video

This is a short video clip of what attendees of the Racine County Lincoln Day Dinner had to face.

This is what the unions have degraded into.  I heard stories of cars being pounded on in the street, posters being shoved into car windows as they went by, etc.

The civility of our government employees....

For the most part these were ordinary citizens attending a dinner, not elected officials that the union rabble were yelling at.
