Did I hear that Barack Oblame-A called for a gentler tone in politics at the prayer breakfast?

Maybe he should provide an example by firing Rahm Emmanuel.

Aren't Racine politics cozy?

If you have not read the posting beneath this please do so then come back to this one. Given the relationship between John Dickert, Mark Eickhorst and Gary Becker can you blame Alderman Shields for questioning the hiring of Eickhorst without a posting or a request for proposal for the position?

Local politics are a cozy affair, check out the names in the following article from 2001:

By Joe Buttweiler, Feb. 27, 2001 Posted: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 12:00 am

The Kenosha County District Attorney's Office is investigating numerous complaints of election law violations by former Alderman Mark Eickhorst during his campaign for mayor in 1999.

Members of the Friends of Mayor Smith Campaign Committee filed the complaints and are expecting a decision soon, although the assistant district attorney who is handling the case, Dick Ginkowski, didn't sound so optimistic when contacted recently.

The alleged infractions involved Eickhorst and his campaign treasurer, Gary Becker.

The allegations included failures to list expenses for fund-raisers, failures to list occupations of people who donated $100 or more to Eickhorst's campaign, and failures to report expenses for certain advertisements.

We can't leave Mayor Dickert out of this, check this number out.

BY JOE BUTTWEILER
Journal Times RACINE -

Supporters of Racine mayoral candidate Mark Eickhorst are crying foul over a supposed attempt by Mayor Jim Smith to oust an Eickhorst campaign worker.

Smith, however, said his opponent's campaign has blown way out of proportion a call he made late last year to the office of state Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen, R-Waukesha, to find out whether a lobbyist can legally work on a mayoral campaign.

After a subsequent call by Jensen to the lobbyist's employer, campaign worker John Dickert stepped away from the political race."I think there was a definite attempt to make him leave my campaign, if not lose his job,'' Eickhorst said this week.

Smith said he had no intention of getting Dickert fired. He said he called Jensen's office to speak with Steve Baas, who is a family friend, to check on the legality and whether it is ethical for a registered state lobbyist to be involved in a local campaign.

Baas said he told Smith he didn't think there was any problem but would double-check. Baas, who grew up with Smith's sons, said Jensen mentioned Dickert's campaign work in a subsequent conversation with Dickert's boss at the state Credit Union League, Tom Knabel."The extent of it was Tom asking how the credit union's lobbying team was doing,'' Baas said. " The speaker told him it was doing quite well, and that the only thing he had heard that was remotely negative was people wondering why Dickert was involved on Eickhorst's team when Smith had such a broad coalition and was so well supported and Eickhorst didn't seem to have a whole lot of credibility.''

Asked why he called Jensen's office instead of the state election board, Smith said there was no particular reason.

He said he regularly calls legislators such as Sen. Kim Plache, D-Racine, and Rep. Robert Turner, D-Racine, often to ask questions. "I guess I wondered what this came under,'' Smith said. "I figure that's the reason legislators are there.''

Dickert, who has since joined a new lobbying branch of the Foley and Lardner law firm, said he withdrew from Eickhorst's campaign because he didn't want it affecting his clients.

Alderman Jody Karls, an Eickhorst supporter, called Smith's action a case of "using your political clout to get someone fired just for helping out on someone's campaign.''

He, Eickhorst and Alderman Gary Becker, another Eickhorst supporter, called the move typical of the Smith campaign.

Read the rest of this Journal Times report here.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

There is a scandal brewing in Racine. (again)

Mayor John Dickert has hired a supporter of his campaign to become a new "Public Relations Officer", PIO, for the city.

The position was not posted but given to someone who supported Mayor Dickert in his campaign to replace disgraced former Mayor, Gary Becker.

Every Alderman in the city except one voted to approve the hiring. Alderman Michael Shields has been asking questions, much to the disgust of Mayor Dickert. Shields dared to try and ask about the PIO hiring in an open meeting and was gaveled down quite rudely by the Mayor.

The defense from the Mayors office is that the PIO Position is a temporary services contract and does not require posting.

That all may well be true but when you give a $25,000 contract to a campaign supporter without posting a position or putting up for bid a contract it smells.

When the Common Council approves that action almost unanimously, it smells.

Mark Eickhorst was given the position and he may well be the most qualified for the job. Eickhorst is a former Racine alderman has previously run for Mayor and has hosted a radio show named All About Racine for years on Racine's local radio station. Eickhorst has been an outspoken cheerleader for Racine for as long as I have lived here.

That being said, Eickhorst was a supporter of Mayor Dickert in his campaign for Mayor. Giving Eickhorst this position without a bid for services or an internal posting does raise questions, gaveling down Alderman Shields raises eyebrows.

Now the NAACP is making noise, this is not a surprise given Shields relationship with that organization. (He is the local NAACP President)

Frankly I can not recall a time I have agreed with Alderman Shields in the past, however in this case he makes a solid point. Additionally, the Mayor should not gaveling down Alderman asking legitimate questions in open meetings. The Mayors actions show anger and annoyance for being questioned, not a procedural point.

Attention Wisconsin Legislature.

I hate to disrupt your global warming green jobs bill debate.

But have you considered how we will meet your ridiculous 25% mandate when the windmills stop working due to our cold climate?

Time to Hide Your Retirement Savings?

Under-the-mattress savings plan and piggy-bank IRAs are looking more attractive these days. A recent, well-documented Millstone Diaries blog post reveals the potential for the government raiding YOUR retirement money and pension to finance the deficit. Strange, unbelievable things have already come down from this administration (government strong-arming car manufacturers, insurance companies and banks) so this is not a black helicopter idea.

In under-the-mattress plans, even if you'd lose interest gains, and even even if inflation hits, at least you'd still have something salted away that is yours, instead of needing to take whatever the unpredictable government decides to let you have. If squirrelling away money doesn't appeal, there's always food, clothes, silver, gold, ammo and land to bury some retirement savings in. Investment counsellors always say to diversify.

Funny, I don't remember Tingles calling any former Bush people Rat Finks...

What a ridiculous excuse for journalism MSNBC is.

Editoonial

They nailed Barack Oblame-A on this one.

When does 1 = 4?

1 = 4 when you are the Oblame-A administration and you wish to count jobs created.

Under spiffy new accounting rules if the "stimulus" funds a job for 4 quarters over the course of a year that one job is counted four times.

I guess that is what they meant by new math.

Remember folks 72% of statistics are made up.

10 things every American needs to know about the Obama budget.

From John Boehner

Working families and small business owners understand that making government live within its means is essential to building confidence in our economy both at home and abroad. That’s why the American people have been saying to Washington: “stop spending money we don’t have.” Democrats still haven’t gotten the message and President Obama has proposed another budget that spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much. Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) sums up Washington Democrats’ viewpoint best: “We are not going to save our way out of this recession. We are going to spend our way out of this recession.” How’s that approach been working out for families asking “where are the jobs?

Here are 10 things every American should know about President Obama’s budget:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: SPENDS TOO MUCH, TAXES TOO MUCH, AND BORROWS TOO MUCH

1. President Obama’s budget spends too much. Under President Obama’s budget, the federal government would spend a record $3.8 trillion in the fiscal year beginning October 1. This represents a nearly 30 percent increase in outlays since 2008. The President’s budget would also maintain the size of government for a second year in a row at 25 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), well above historical levels of 20 percent.

2. President Obama’s budget taxes too much. The President’s budget includes more than $2 trillion in tax hikes. This includes tax increases on small businesses, investors, and families earning less than $250,000 per year – a violation of the President’s campaign pledge. The last thing American families and small businesses need right now are new taxes that make it harder to save, invest, and hire.

3. President Obama’s budget borrows too much from our kids and grandkids. Under the President’s budget, the federal government will run up a record budget deficit of $1.6 trillion in fiscal year 2010. Deficits never fall below $700 billion, never fall below 3.6% of GDP, and end the decade at more than $1 trillion. The national debt would double over five years and triple by FY2019 from FY2008 levels. Paying the interest on this debt would set American taxpayers back roughly $6 trillion over the next decade.

SPENDING FREEZE A GOOD FIRST STEP, BUT WE NEED TO DO MORE – AND NOW

4. President Obama’s proposed spending freeze is a good step in the right direction, but we need to do more. Serious fiscal responsibility requires more than a few cuts here and there at the margins. Republicans have proposed adopting strict budget caps that limit federal spending on an annual basis and are enforceable by the President. These caps were a critical plank in the budget alternative Republicans proposed last year, led by Budget Committee Ranking Republican Paul Ryan, and they are notably absent from the President’s budget. Without these caps, the federal budget deficit will continue to spiral out of control.

5. President Obama’s budget green-lights more government ‘stimulus’ spending now while delaying any spending freeze. Last Friday, the President told House Republicans that delaying his proposed spending freeze represented the “consensus among people who know the economy best.” In December, Leader Boehner released a list of 222 economists who support getting runaway federal spending under control -- rather than adding more ‘stimulus’ spending -- in order to help create jobs and get the economy back on track.

6. President Obama turns over tough spending choices to a deficit commission “without teeth.” As the Associated Press notes, “the commission has yet to be appointed and there's no sure path to having its recommendations considered by Congress.”

OUT-OF-TOUCH: DOUBLING DOWN ON THE TRILLION-DOLLAR ‘STIMULUS’ AND COSTLY, JOB-KILLING POLICIES

7. President Obama’s budget contains a “secret sequel” to the trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’ it concedes isn’t working as promised. A majority of Americans oppose the trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’ and nearly three in four say it has wasted taxpayer dollars. What’s worse, President Obama’s budget projects that unemployment will remain near 10 percent through the end of this year. The Obama Administration promised the trillion-dollar stimulus would create jobs ‘immediately’ and keep joblessness below eight percent.

8
. President Obama’s budget fails to pivot away from costly, job-killing policies that are causing uncertainty and making matters worse. President Obama’s budget accounts for the implementation of both a government takeover of health care and a ‘cap-and-trade’ national energy tax, two job-killing bills the American people have rejected loudly and clearly. The President calls for a new national energy tax to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent by 2020 – a proposal which CBO has estimated would increase taxes by $870 billion, a full $224 billion more than President Obama’s proposal in the FY2010 budget.

BIPARTISAN SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS, BIPARTISAN OPPOSITION TO IMPORTING DANGEROUS TERRORISTS

9. President Obama’s budget spends hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to import dangerous terrorists to U.S. soil and give them the same rights as U.S. citizens. Republicans have stood with the American people from the beginning to oppose the Obama Administration’s severely misguided plan to try the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks and his-co conspirators in civilian courts in downtown Manhattan. In recent days, more Democrats have followed suit. Yet, the President’s budget irresponsibly spends hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on importing dangerous terrorists to U.S. soil, housing them at a ‘Gitmo North’ facility and trying them in civilian courts.

10. President Obama’s budget ensures our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have the resources they need to succeed in their mission. This is an area in which Republicans hope to continue finding consensus with the President.

Are these new body scanners going to catch this one?

Explosive breast implants.

Come on you can't blame Rahm, after all his boss is an insensitive jerk too.

HEY WISCONSIN!

Not often do we beg you to call your State Representatives, this is one of those times.

The state legislature is considering a global warming bill that will mandate ridiculous alternative energy standards in Wisconsin.

They are calling this a "Green Jobs Bill" because the shine has come off of global warming. But Governor Doyle is trying his best to kill Wisconsin jobs and ruin our economy before he leaves office.

This will cause electricity rates to skyrocket and will guarantee Wisconsin a massive disadvantage in attracting and keeping manufacturing jobs. Estimates say this bill will cost Wisconsin in the area of 43,000 jobs.

Please call your Assemblyperson and your State Senator and tell them to vote against the supposed green jobs bill.

If you do not know how to reach your legislators click this link.

Guess the number game.

0

UPDATE: I would have accepted one of two answers.

0 = Number of Oscar nominated films I have seen.

0 = Number of tax dollars owed that Terrence Wall didn't pay. Yet the left is up in arms? If you don't like the law, change it. Why waste so much energy attacking someone who used legal incentives, created jobs, expanded the economy and paid millions of dollars in total taxes.

That's right, the left hates people who take risks and create jobs.

The Obama Legacy

Punishing people for making charitable contributions.

Outrageous.

The Racine Police Department is investigating a fire in which a mother and child were killed in 2006.

The Police Department has asked the Racine Journal Times for photos they have of the fire that may yield evidence in this crime, and the Racine Journal Times has refused the request.

The Racine Post has a good piece up on this including a letter from the Poice Chief that points out the paper profits on bad news in the community, why won't they help?

Why won't Obama

Pay his campaign bills?

Dems the party for the little guys? Yeah, right.

Surprise, surprise: Obama's going to stick it to Main Street, the group he always acts like he's defending.

Wisdom

I was planning on taking the Mrs. to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the MPM this week, so I went online to get some info on times & tickets when I came across this nugget of wisdom:

[ Milwaukee County Residents
County residents can purchase discounted $10 tickets on Mondays for use the same day. Photo ID with a Milwaukee County residence must be shown by each adult in order to receive discounted rates.
]

The brain trust says you better show some photo ID if you want to save 10 bucks to go to the museum
BUT
you don’t need to show any ID when you vote for people that may cost you millions.

Yeah, that makes sense.

The Hottest Hoax in The World.

A great read about the hoax that is global warming.

A pity you have to go to an Indian press outlet to get this kind of reporting.

The American Thinker asks where are the American media on this issue?
You have no doubt heard about Glaciergate, did you hear about Amazongate? This is where the IPCC takes non peer reviewed "studies" and presents them as fact
