Feingold operative following and trying to tape Ron Johnson. Feingate? Spygold?

This evening Republican Senate candidate Ron Johnson paid a visit to Drinking Right.

For those unaware Drinking Right is a monthly gathering of conservative bloggers and blog readers.

According to Johnson campaign staffers a person from the Feingold campaign has been following Johnson taping everything he does.

The operative came to Drinking Right, sat at the bar, ordered a Heineken and discretely held a video recorder in his lap taping everything Mr. Johnson did. The manager at Papa's noticed and did not take kindly to having his customers video taped without having any permission asked.

The Feingold operative was asked to erase the recording and asked to leave. Apparently he drove away in a vehicle with Virginia plates.

So what do we know?

1. Rather than have an honest campaign about the issues, the Feingold campaign is scared and they are going to pull every dirty trick they can think of to smear a good man.

2. The Feingold campaign is pulling in operatives from outside of Wisconsin to help them in their smear tactics.

3. If you are going to try and video tape the customers at Papa's don't let Dickie see you.

For the record, Ron Johnson was a class act. He took the time to introduce himself and chat with everyone there.

Maybe he should look into filing stalking charges?  Sad that Feingold has resorted to this.

Honest campaign?  Have you seen Rusty's ads?  The one on spending is a flat out lie.

Hm.  As a private citizen, I don't appreciate potentially being recorded and in Feingold's files.

I agree with Phel...I don't take kindly to the fact that I may have been in some of that footage.  P.S. - Gotta love Dickie!!!  :)

feingold knows he toast and he's desperate.  If he had to run on a clean campaign and debate his record, that would last approximately.....mmmmm 10 seconds.  I would be surprised if his hacks and goons "edit" the tapes to their liking before posting them on YouTube.

You guys know both sides do this right? It's been a common practice by both parties for years. Fail to see how this is an issue

Is the Johnson camp following and taping Feingold?

No.

Sent by Feingold? This is pure conjecture. Where's the proof. Why didn't someone just ask him?

Real Debate said...

Can you say that with absolute certainty. These guys aren't always paid through campaigns, most are paid through the state parties or DC

I would have loved to Jim but he was gone by the time I got there.

Real Debate said...

Yeah, Jim, "America's Got Talent" was taping him for an audition.  Maybe Feingold didn't directly send him, but someone from his campaign or the Democrats did.
Isn't Feingold the senator who values privacy and clean campaigns?  I guess privacy for everyone except for conservatives.

Jim, you say everything about Democrat malfeasance, misfeasance, tire slashing, theft, voter intimidation, voter registration fraud, vote Fraud, campaign finance law violations, etc. are just conjecture, but any BDS you'll claim as Gospel Truth.

That might have been part of a pattern of "despicable-ness" but I think it is perfectly legal to tape someone in a publuic establisment. The rules vary from state to state, but the Wisconsin statute says you can't tape a phone conversation unless both parties are aware and a live conversation has to have one party aware (the latter seems to have been written with a sense of humor).

Dirty tricks???

Let me be the first to point out that any savvy political campaign has a tracker following around the opponent with audio or video recording equipment.  It's a part of doing opposition research, because you never know when your opponent will say something monumentally stupid.

It happens on both sides, and it's certainly nothing new.

When Mr. try to make political points on privacy issues secretly tapes people you honestly don't see an issue?

As I mentioned, the Johnson campaign is NOT doing this.

Your bias is showing Zach.

Real Debate said...

Yeah, clearly he was secretly taping, that's why no one noticed!

Real Debate said...

You really are beyond the ability to have a clue.

Real Debate said...

Well, at least RoJo didn't call the guy macaca.

As you may recall, that was a tracker following George Allen.

Come back another time Bill if you would like to make a serious point.

Or don't you see the problem with Senator I'm concerned about privacy issues in the Patriot Act secretly taping people?

Zach is totally right -in this case  ;)
Every good campaign should do opposition research and be recording and video taping their opponents every chance they get.
you think anything on mayortombarrett.com was put up with for fun? No, people are paid to do that. What about T-Wall's early ads attacking Feingold, if someone wasn't there filming that

RDW, you have ZERO evidence to support your claim that RonJohn (or National Repubs) aren't doing this, and if they aren't it almost borders on irresponsible campaigning. Your Delusion is showing RDW
