Sometimes Ann Althouse Kills Me.
Riddle: Why didn't Barack Obama win the Nobel Prize for Literature?
Answer: He wrote two books.

An interesting factoid.
The deadline for being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize is Feb. 1.
Ergo, Barack Obama could have only been President for less than two weeks if he was nominated at the last minute. For all we know he could have been nominated before he was sworn in. Nominations are sealed for 50 years, so by the time that information could be learned no one will remember the question.
The only accomplishment that could have been claimed by that point (If he was nominated after he was sworn in) was the promise to close Gitmo within one year. A promise that is likely to be broken.
If you had never been convinced that these awards were a complete joke before, you should be now.
By the way the Earth has been cooling since Al Gore got his Nobel award.

Awesome.
So Algore will be in Mad-town tomorrow to expound on the dangers of the world with a fever.
I’m sure he’ll tell all Wisconsinites that the 3-4 days of summer we had this year is just a harbinger of things to come. Then he might tell us that if Wisconsin doesn’t straighten up and raise taxes, the global ecosystem will collapse.
Funny thing, tho, Al – the world’s fever seems to have broken this decade.
I would ask you, as a Nobel Prize-winning scientist, what do you attribute the decade-long break in rising temps?
Is it because of the laws and taxes that you’ve fear-mongered thus far?
Really?
You actually think that the planet has actually cut its carbon emissions since 2000?
If that’s not it, what do you attribute it to?
Oh, I know!
You gambled – badly – and lost.
Badly.
"In 20 years" has turned into "in 75 years...maybe."
Now we are all going to pay for something that only hubris would make us think that we are responsible for.
Hubris and greed.
Lots of greed.
If you still don’t think Algore is pushing this lame agenda for personal financial reasons – and to make himself feel relevant – consider my favorite line from the article.
[ “Non-SEJ members can attend, but it's pricey: $450 per day.” ]
How many “carbon credits” do you think that will buy?
How many gallons of jet fuel for his private jet?
How many cheeseburbers will that buy for Algore?

Wisconsin Senate Dems Ram Another Tax Increase Through.
Digusting. These Democrats are absolutely mad with tax increaseitis.
From WISGOP Blog.
Madison, Wisc…] Sen. Randy Hopper: Senate Democrats today abandoned the bipartisan solution to the drunk driving crisis in Wisconsin adopted by the State Assembly by trying to hide a $20 million tax hike within the proposal, State Senator Randy Hopper said today.
“It’s shameful that Senate Democrats are playing partisan politics with people’s lives,” Hopper said. “Republicans weren’t even afforded the time to read the proposal before the start of our hearing today. I could not responsibly support or oppose a measure that I haven’t even been allowed an opportunity to read. This is why I refused to cast a vote. Apparently the Senate Democrats will stop at nothing to conceal their picking of the taxpayers’ pockets.”
Assembly Bill 283 passed the Assembly last month on a unanimous vote. This bipartisan legislation stiffens penalties for drunk driving and requires ignition interlocks for most repeat offenders. It also protects our children by making a first offense OWI a felony if a child is in the vehicle. Senate Bill 66, also combating drunk driving, was scheduled for a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee today.
Unbeknownst to the public and Republican members of the legislature, Senate Democrats have been developing a substitute amendment to SB 66 since passage of the AB 283. This proposal was finally released only 13 minutes before the start of the committee hearing today. Included in the substitute amendment is a 58% increase in the tax on hard liquor, costing taxpayers $20 million. No public hearing has been held on the tax increase and no member of the public has been allowed to weigh-in.
“Senate Democrats apparently can’t even take the most serious of issues seriously,” Hopper said. “The ultra-partisan senate Democrat leadership should learn a lesson from their colleagues in the Assembly who were able to join with Republicans to find a common-sense bipartisan solution to a serious public safety issue.

Top of the list of things that Congress and their pets in the media will ignore today.
The following resolution is being introduced in Congress today by John Carter (R - Texas). I predict it will be completely ignored by leadership and their dutiful lapdogs in the media.
WHEREAS, the gentleman from New York, Charles B. Rangel, the fourth most senior Member of the House of Representatives, serves as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, a position of considerable power and influence within the House of Representatives; and,
WHEREAS, clause one of Rule XXXIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives provides, "A Member, Delegate, Resident Commission, officer, or employee of the House shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House; [...]

Therefore, be it RESOLVED, upon adoption of this resolution and pending completion of the investigation into his affairs by the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, Representative Rangel is hereby removed as chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means.

Consider this your Monday Night Football Open Thread.
Mrs. Rdw said something interesting yesterday. She said that Favre had really changed over the last couple of years.
Has he?
I had to disagree with her, how do we know he changed? The only thing we are sure of that changed is the Packers made Aaron Rodgers their #1.
Oh well, #12 is 3 X 4 right?
GO PACKERS!
