Wisconsin Senate Dems Ram Another Tax Increase Through.

Digusting. These Democrats are absolutely mad with tax increaseitis.

From WISGOP Blog.

Madison, Wisc…] Sen. Randy Hopper: Senate Democrats today abandoned the bipartisan solution to the drunk driving crisis in Wisconsin adopted by the State Assembly by trying to hide a $20 million tax hike within the proposal, State Senator Randy Hopper said today.

“It’s shameful that Senate Democrats are playing partisan politics with people’s lives,” Hopper said. “Republicans weren’t even afforded the time to read the proposal before the start of our hearing today. I could not responsibly support or oppose a measure that I haven’t even been allowed an opportunity to read. This is why I refused to cast a vote. Apparently the Senate Democrats will stop at nothing to conceal their picking of the taxpayers’ pockets.”

Assembly Bill 283 passed the Assembly last month on a unanimous vote. This bipartisan legislation stiffens penalties for drunk driving and requires ignition interlocks for most repeat offenders. It also protects our children by making a first offense OWI a felony if a child is in the vehicle. Senate Bill 66, also combating drunk driving, was scheduled for a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee today.

Unbeknownst to the public and Republican members of the legislature, Senate Democrats have been developing a substitute amendment to SB 66 since passage of the AB 283. This proposal was finally released only 13 minutes before the start of the committee hearing today. Included in the substitute amendment is a 58% increase in the tax on hard liquor, costing taxpayers $20 million. No public hearing has been held on the tax increase and no member of the public has been allowed to weigh-in.

“Senate Democrats apparently can’t even take the most serious of issues seriously,” Hopper said. “The ultra-partisan senate Democrat leadership should learn a lesson from their colleagues in the Assembly who were able to join with Republicans to find a common-sense bipartisan solution to a serious public safety issue.

Top of the list of things that Congress and their pets in the media will ignore today.

The following resolution is being introduced in Congress today by John Carter (R - Texas). I predict it will be completely ignored by leadership and their dutiful lapdogs in the media.

WHEREAS, the gentleman from New York, Charles B. Rangel, the fourth most senior Member of the House of Representatives, serves as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, a position of considerable power and influence within the House of Representatives; and,

WHEREAS, clause one of Rule XXXIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives provides, "A Member, Delegate, Resident Commission, officer, or employee of the House shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House; [...]
WHEREAS, on May 24, 2006, then Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi cited "high ethical standards" in a letter to Representative William Jefferson asking that he resign his seat on the Committee on Ways and Means in light of ongoing investigations into alleged financial impropriety by Representative Jefferson,

WHEREAS, by the conduct giving rise to this resolution, Representative Charles B. Rangel has dishonored himself and brought discredit to the House; and,

Therefore, be it RESOLVED, upon adoption of this resolution and pending completion of the investigation into his affairs by the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, Representative Rangel is hereby removed as chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means.

Who knew?

Guess who used to be Jewish?

Pros and Cons of U.S. relenquishing control of the Internet?

The BBC reported the U.S. has relenquished control of the Internet, giving other countries a more prominent role in deciding what direction it should take.

"the fresh focus will give other countries a more prominent role in determining what takes place online, and even the way in which it happens – opening the door for a virtual United Nations, where many officials gather to discuss potential changes to the internet."

So, was this a good move, or just another way for the current administration to snuff out America's influence and standards in the world? Will this "virtual U.N." pose more of a threat to Americans' free speech on the Internet than our own current leaders do?

Take a break.

Identity theft?

Irony.

An advertisement for Michael Moore's hypocrisy fest movie on the top of the Drudge Report.

Really Rahm?

“They shouldn’t try to make politics of this,” Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff and a Chicagoan himself, told ABC News. “I think they should take some pride in the U.S.’s win, and you know, we’ll make sure they get some good seats once Chicago does host the Games.”

And if Chicago had won their Olympic bid would you not have claimed it as a political victory, Obama's worldly charm, etc...

We all know the answer to that.

So...

If Chicago is out can we send Talgo back their trains?

Chicago voted out in the first round.

Apparently ACORN didn't get the vote out.

Come to think of it....

The US has hosted the modern Olympic games eight times.

Summer Olympics:

1904 St. Louis
1932 Los Angeles
1984 Los Angeles
1996 Atlanta

Winter Olympics:

1932 Lake Placid
1960 Squaw Valley
1980 Lake Placid
2002 Salt Lake City

Seeing how greedy the US has been in holding the Olympics so many times, especially considering the games have never been to South America or Africa, aren't you surprised that President Obama didn't apologize for the US while being overseas?

I believe this is his first trip abroad that he has not proffered an apology.

Actually seeing as the Olympics have never been to Africa the whole process must be racist.

Guess the number game

263,000

Congratulations Rio....

Yeah, I know everyone thinks Chicago will win.

Ask yourself this...

As Madrid and Tokyo get voted out where are their votes more likely to go?

Obama's smile or South America that has never hosted an Olympic games?

UPDATE: I nailed it.

Hey Whoopster...

What exactly is rape-rape?

A Nation of Nannies

Iran is ramping up their nuclear capabilities, the war in Afghanistan rages on, unemployment is skyrocketing and all the elected Democrats can concentrate on is BANNING TEXTING WHILE DRIVING?
Who doesn't already know this is a bad idea?!

Word to legislators nationwide: There are already laws on every state's books that deal with "inattentive driving," giving law enforcement officers plenty of elbow room to punish an offender. They encompass a whole plethora of things like: eating while driving, talking on your cell phone, turning around to wag your finger and threaten your kids in the backseat, doing your makeup while driving, ---you get the idea.

I absolutely cannot stand how politicians jump on bandwagons to support a simplistic, moronic thought like this one and then go home and BRAG about it? As if they had an impact on the greater good?
How about working to toughen our immigration laws, incentify business growth and development, simplify the tax code, reform our tort laws--you know, the stuff that you have to roll up your sleeves to get done?

Instead, these Washington clowns make over $160,000/year in a salary to come up with THIS? This is the stuff that made me CRAZY in Madison. The real work never gets done.

OUTRAGEOUS. We should demand better.

Can one of you leftists answer a question?

Why hasn't one Democrat member of Wisconsin's Congressional delegation signed on to allow 72 hours for people to read legislation before it gets voted on?

Are they that arrogant?

Do they think that little of the taxpayers?

DOT Snubs Audit Committee

The Wisconsin DOT Secretary Frank Busalacchi sent two underlings without authority to answer questions relating to the expense of hiring consultants with Wisconsin tax money.

Wis. lawmakers tee off on DOT over consultants

By RYAN J. FOLEY Associated Press Writer

5:03 p.m. CDT, September 30, 2009

MADISON, Wis. - Democratic lawmakers blasted Gov. Jim Doyle's transportation secretary Wednesday for ducking their questions and ripped the department for spending too much money on private consultants.

Members of the Legislature's audit committee had a public hearing to discuss a May report that found the Department of Transportation was using consultants as engineers on highway projects more often than neighboring states. The report also found 125 instances in which the department hired consultants even after determining state employees could do the work cheaper.

Transportation Secretary Frank Busalacchi did not agree to the committee's request to testify and did not send his deputy. Instead, the department sent two lower-level officials with expertise in highway construction to the meeting.

In response to questions, DOT official Rory Rhinesmith said he was not authorized to say whether the department would change policies to cut the use of consultants when they are more expensive. That prompted a testy response from Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Madison, co-chairman of the Legislature's budget committee.

"Quite honestly it looks like they are trying to duck something," he said of Busalacchi's failure to show. "It's the biggest question in the audit and the response we're getting is 'We don't have an official response' ... This is simply unacceptable."

Read the rest of the AP report here.

Busalacchi must have been at a conference on shoving roundabouts onto the public.

But but but I thought ACORN was non-partisan.

A Republican state legislator released documents Tuesday which he says show the community-organizing group ACORN focused on helping Democrats in three legislative races in the November 2008 election and had developed a game plan to "take power” in Oklahoma within five years.

The documents, which include legislative district maps and various forms, were recovered from computers abandoned by ACORN workers in Oklahoma City, said Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City. Also found was a script apparently used in Houston to go door-to-door to encourage voters to vote for Barack Obama in November 2008.

"They say they’re not political, but one of the subdirectories was called political action plans,” Reynolds said. "It was their political plans to take over key targeted races in Oklahoma City to show how powerful they are.”

Olympics-2016 Games could be the last, says Tokyo governor

By Karolos Grohmann

COPENHAGEN, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara warned on Wednesday the 2016 Olympics could be the last Games, with global warming an immediate threat to mankind.

Tokyo is bidding to host the 2016 summer Olympics with Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid also in the running. The International Olympic Committee will elect the winning candidate during its session on Oct. 2 in the Danish capital.

"It could be that the 2016 Games are the last Olympics in the history of mankind," Ishihara told reporters at a Tokyo 2016 press event ahead of the vote.
"Global warming is getting worse. We have to come up with measures without which Olympic Games could not last long.

"Scientists have said we have passed the point of no return," said Ishihara.

Wow, what do you do when you know you haven't a snow balls chance in Miami to win your bid for the games? Why play the Al Gore card of course. Hey, Ishihara, other sceintists say you are full of crap. It just matters which ear you listen with.
