Limbaugh taken to hospital with chest pains.

We wish him well.

COMING THIS SUNDAY!

Our Cheddarsphere Christmas this year party will be this Sunday, January the 3rd, from 2pm until whenever at Papa's Social Club, 7718 W. Burleigh Milwaukee .

Just like last year we'll be collecting predictions from the attendees for the coming year. (Hopefully we'll do better than last year!)

The Packers will be facing the Cardinals on the big screens. (Hopefully the game will matter in some way)

Since it was so popular last year, we'll be doing a white elephant gift exchange this again. Participation is optional, buy a gift valued at no more than $5, wrap it and bring it with you to the party. Everyone who brings a gift will throw their name in a hat and then you draw and pick a gift at random. (Gift exchange to commence at halftime of the Packer game)

Bloggers, please do what you do best, spread the word.

If you will be attending PLEASE leave a comment so we can give the bar an idea of how many people will be coming along.

How about 1 day?

Remember when The Chosen One gave Iran a deadline?
Did you notice how the Iranian leadership - obviously overwhelmed by The Chosen One's "open hand" policy - responded?

A note to the media.

The Obamacare bill mandates people buy health insurance.

Why do you keep reporting that it will provide insurance for 30 million additional Americans?

Just in case you were wondering:

Mandate – noun
1. a command or authorization to act in a particular way on a public issue given by the electorate to its representative: The president had a clear mandate to end the war.
2. a command from a superior court or official to a lower one.
3. an authoritative order or command

Provide - verb

1. to make available; furnish: to provide employees with various benefits.
2. to supply or equip: to provide the army with new fighter planes.
3. to afford or yield.

You could at least try to get it right. You could make the case that by requiring pre-existing conditions this bill would make coverage available to more people, but the government is mandating here, not providing.

You could at least try and tell the truth.

Now they have gone too far.

The global warming zealots are trying to scare kids that global warming will take away Christmas.

No, I'm not kidding.

No, not years from now, this Friday. These people really don't have an ounce of shame. Spreading their lies to impressionable children through scare tactics.

Frankly their continued actions are so unethical I don't know how people can stand to be associated with them any more.

In another case of ridiculous left wing tactics (in case you missed it), the Rock The Vote folks are trying to use sex to sell healthcare "reform".

Nick Griffin Post.

Yesterday I posted a speech from Nick Griffin at the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen.

He essentially called the whole global warming movement hooey. I agree with him on that issue.

Before I posted that video I had never heard of Nick Griffin. Apparently he has a racist past. He is currently a member of the European Parliament and the Chairman of the British National Party and a very controversial figure. People in the UK love or hate him.

The post quickly deteriorated away from the actual subject which was the hoax of global warming being thrust upon the planet.

It got so ugly I eventually just decided to delete it. I'll be criticized for:

A. Deleting the post
B. Not deleting it fast enough.
C. Posting it in the first place. (Even though I knew nothing of this guys past)
D. Not leaving the post up
E. Breathing (Exhaling is contributing to global warming after all)
F. All of the above.

The correct answer of course is F. No matter what I do someone complains.

Frankly I just am not in the mood to deal with the hatred and character assassination that was rampant on that post. In posting Griffin's video at the UN Conference I in no way was endorsing anything he did or said in the past.

Of course the hate left is insinuating that I am somehow a holocaust denier now... You stay classy Jay. Keep making stuff up.

Though people wanted to jump on me no one even considered that if this guy was such a bad apple why was he invited to the UN Summit?

“Tyranny for Christmas”

This came to my attention through the email today. Upon hearing of the Senate trying to push a vote on the health care bill on Christmas Eve a local resident sent this note to Senators Kohl and Feingold.

I would add, how can they bring a bill like this up for a vote when it has not been allowed to be seen by anyone outside of Reid's office?

I will not disclose the identity of the author, if they would like to do that themselves they may do so in comments.

They provided a “Subject” field, in which I put “Tyranny for Christmas”

I just heard that Harry Reid is pushing to have this Healthcare Vote on Christmas Eve. The Senate is completely out of control. You people are so desperate to execute your tyranny, that you will have the gall to do this on a cherished holiday, when the People are all focused on love and family and joy... to sneak through your despicable, tyrannical bill to take over all our lives.

This is truly a new low, and just completely over the top. Stunning. Stunning. The government is completely out of control.

As a Senator, you have a responsibility to break outside of this box. Change your leadership, get a grip--STOP. The Constitution and purpose of 'the people's' Congress is like a distant memory.

I just don't know what else to say except Knock It Off. Return to your real mission! I don't need to recite the Constitution and Bill of Rights here--READ IT.

Mayo Clinic On The Senate Plan to Expand Medicare

The current Medicare payment system is financially unsustainable. Any plan to expand Medicare, which is the government’s largest public plan, beyond its current scope does not solve the nation’s health care crisis, but compounds it. We need to fix Medicare by moving it to a system that pays for value – quality health outcomes that are affordable over time – and ensure its success, before bringing more people into a broken system.

Expanding this system to persons 55 to 64 years old would ultimately hurt patients by accelerating the financial ruin of hospitals and doctors across the country. A majority of Medicare providers currently suffer great financial loss under the program. Mayo Clinic alone lost $840 million last year under Medicare. As a result of these types of losses, a growing number of providers have begun to limit the number of Medicare patients in their practices. Despite these provider losses, Medicare has not curbed overall spending, especially after adjusting for benefits covered and the cost shift from Medicare to private insurance. This is clearly an unsustainable model, and one that would be disastrous for our nation’s hospitals, doctors and eventually our patients if expanded to even more beneficiaries.

It’s also clear that an expansion of the price-controlled Medicare payment system will not control overall Medicare spending or curb costs. The Commonwealth Fund has reported this result for Medicare overall by looking at two time periods – one four-year period where Medicare physician fees increased and one four-year period where Medicare physician fees decreased. Overall cost per beneficiary increased at the same rate during each time period. This scenario follows the typical pattern for price controls – reduced access, compromised quality and increasing costs anyway. We need to address these problems – not perpetuate them – through health reform legislation.

We believe insurance coverage can be achieved without creating or expanding a government-run, price-controlled, Medicare-like insurance model.

Jim Doyle's Muckety Profile Needs Work

I know he's on the way out, but couldn't someone add a few links to Governor Doyle's Muckety Map for posterity's sake? Seriously, he's missing important links to the teacher's union, the Native American tribes, and the vast web of big money donors that kept him in power.

Check out Nancy Pelosi's or Barack Obama's Muckety Maps and you will find tons of connections. Jim Doyle should get equal coverage. Someone may also want to add to Tom Barrett's skimpy entry and start one for Scott Walker.

Actually, I just came across muckety.com for the first time last week. People can add to and update it, kind of like they do for the Wikipedia encyclopedia. So, the accuracy may suffer some, but the connections can always be double checked, and it is an interesting way to get a shot of a famous person's ties. You can get maps on organizations, too. Celebrities, sports players and numerous public figures are included. Say, anyone want to update the links for Tiger Woods?

Prayers for Mrs. RDW

At 5 am Thursday morning we will be checking Mrs. RDW into St. Lukes Hospital for her second major back surgery of the year.

Her first surgery in August was a painful experience for her to go through but the surgery was a complete success. She spent six weeks in an uncomfortable neck brace and it will take the better part of a year for her to completely recover from that procedure.

She needs this second procedure to help relieve the chronic pain she has been living with for the last decade. (no, not me, she has been dealing with that chronic pain for more than two decades)

Mrs. RDW is a very private person so I really don't like to spread our personal lives around the Cheddarsphere but I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Frankly if it weren't for the wonderful relationships that we have built through blogging I would have stopped doing this long ago. We really do treasure the friendships that have developed over the five years plus that I've been doing this.

We would appreciate all the thoughts and prayers you could send her way during this time.

Left Wing Hatred.

Over night Michael Mathias called me a racist (again), a fascist (that's a new one) and threatened to sue me for deleting his hateful comments. Seriously, how far are you going to get insulting the host on a continual basis? This guy must be great fun at parties, your food sucks, your house is ugly and you are fat; can I come to your next party? And this ill-tempered clod thought he should be on the MPS School Board.

In the same breath he does not understand why he is not welcome here. Look in the mirror, that's why.

Additionally, Capper dropped an f-bomb and threatened violence against another participant. His comments were deleted.

If you can not let go of your left wing hatred at the door, don't bother coming at all.

There is a line, do not cross it.

Of course they would like me to ban them so they can try make me the bad guy for their bad behavior.

Seriously children (and that is what you are), play nicely or find a new sandbox. My tolerance of your bad behavior is it an end.

Double Standards.

Capper would have an absolute coronary if Scott Walker's Chief of Staff made any comments about Walker's campaign for Governor. He'd have a point for once as well.

However, when Tom Barrett's staffer Patrick Curley makes inappropriate comments about Barrett's campaign, nothing from the press.

If this had been Walker OWN would have had a complaint filed already.

CBS Evening News: Climategate Casts Cloud on UN Global Warming Conference

Lookie what CBS finally mentioned.

Global Warming Fanaticism Heats Up

"Hopefully the world is waking up to the fraud being perpetrated upon it," said RDW in a recent post about Climategate. But, did anyone really think the momentum of the mass fraud of human-caused climate change would be easily stopped with all the power and money at stake?

Global warming zealots everywhere are frantically pulling out all the stops to insure their agenda moves forward, despite the damaging Climategate truth.

In Wisconsin:
Last week, Governor Doyle defended the state's pursuit of job and prosperity killing moves based on global warming.

In Washington:
Today, an AP article reported, the Environmental Protection Agency has concluded greenhouse gases are endangering people's health and must be regulated, signaling that the Obama administration is prepared to contain global warming without congressional action if necessary.

At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen:
Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said,The ultimate responsibility rests with the citizens of the world, who will ultimately bear the fatal consequences, if we fail to act. Of course, it is up to richer nations of the globe to help poorer nations to convert to a cleaner economy to avoid this end of the world scenario.

Will truth out? Hard to say. When you have people whose beliefs and goals are more important to them than facts, extreme things can happen. History brims with examples.

Climategate, The Original One.

I've written about this before but given the current issues revolving around Climategate I thought it was a good time to revisit this. This is obviously a long read but I assure you it is a worthy one.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina there was much posturing about the relationship between global warming and hurricane frequency and storm strength.

Al Gore, who used to be the next President of the United States, has been touting that such a correlation does exist for some time now.

In his latest book Gore actually had storms photoshopped onto a picture of the Earth to make things look more dire.

I am sure most of you have heard of the IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The IPCC hired Dr. Christopher Landsea to do a physical study to determine if there was any actual scientific link between hurricanes and global warming.

Shortly after Dr. Landsea was hired he resigned in a display of ethical scientific charachter that is in extremely short supply today. This is Dr. Landsea's resignation letter.

This is an open letter to the community from Chris Landsea.

Dear colleagues,

After some prolonged deliberation, I have decided to withdraw from participating in the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). I am withdrawing because I have come to view the part of the IPCC to which my expertise is relevant as having become politicized. In addition, when I have raised my concerns to the IPCC leadership, their response was simply to dismiss my concerns.

With this open letter to the community, I wish to explain the basis for my decision and bring awareness to what I view as a problem in the IPCC process. The IPCC is a group of climate researchers from around the world that every few years summarize how climate is changing and how it may be altered in the future due to manmade global warming. I had served both as an author for the Observations chapter and a Reviewer for the 2nd Assessment Report in 1995 and the 3rd Assessment Report in 2001, primarily on the topic of tropical cyclones (hurricanes and typhoons). My work on hurricanes, and tropical cyclones more generally, has been widely cited by the IPCC. For the upcoming AR4, I was asked several weeks ago by the Observations chapter Lead Author - Dr. Kevin Trenberth - to provide the writeup for Atlantic hurricanes. As I had in the past, I agreed to assist the IPCC in what I thought was to be an important, and politically-neutral determination of what is happening with our climate.

Shortly after Dr. Trenberth requested that I draft the Atlantic hurricane section for the AR4's Observations chapter, Dr. Trenberth participated in a press conference organized by scientists at Harvard on the topic "Experts to warn global warming likely to continue spurring more outbreaks of intense hurricane activity" along with other media interviews on the topic. The result of this media interaction was widespread coverage that directly connected the very busy 2004 Atlantic hurricane season as being caused by anthropogenic greenhouse gas warming occurring today. Listening to and reading transcripts of this press conference and media interviews, it is apparent that Dr. Trenberth was being accurately quoted and summarized in such statements and was not being misrepresented in the media. These media sessions have potential to result in a widespread perception that global warming has made recent hurricane activity much more severe.

I found it a bit perplexing that the participants in the Harvard press conference had come to the conclusion that global warming was impacting hurricane activity today. To my knowledge, none of the participants in that press conference had performed any research on hurricane variability, nor were they reporting on any new work in the field. All previous and current research in the area of hurricane variability has shown no reliable, long-term trend up in the frequency or intensity of tropical cyclones, either in the Atlantic or any other basin. The IPCC assessments in 1995 and 2001 also concluded that there was no global warming signal found in the hurricane record.

Moreover, the evidence is quite strong and supported by the most recent credible studies that any impact in the future from global warming upon hurricane will likely be quite small. The latest results from the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (Knutson and Tuleya, Journal of Climate, 2004) suggest that by around 2080, hurricanes may have winds and rainfall about 5% more intense than today. It has been proposed that even this tiny change may be an exaggeration as to what may happen by the end of the 21st Century (Michaels, Knappenberger, and Landsea, Journal of Climate, 2005, submitted).

It is beyond me why my colleagues would utilize the media to push an unsupported agenda that recent hurricane activity has been due to global warming. Given Dr. Trenberth’s role as the IPCC’s Lead Author responsible for preparing the text on hurricanes, his public statements so far outside of current scientific understanding led me to concern that it would be very difficult for the IPCC process to proceed objectively with regards to the assessment on hurricane activity. My view is that when people identify themselves as being associated with the IPCC and then make pronouncements far outside current scientific understandings that this will harm the credibility of climate change science and will in the longer term diminish our role in public policy.

My concerns go beyond the actions of Dr. Trenberth and his colleagues to how he and other IPCC officials responded to my concerns. I did caution Dr. Trenberth before the media event and provided him a summary of the current understanding within the hurricane research community. I was disappointed when the IPCC leadership dismissed my concerns when I brought up the misrepresentation of climate science while invoking the authority of the IPCC. Specifically, the IPCC leadership said that Dr. Trenberth was speaking as an individual even though he was introduced in the press conference as an IPCC lead author; I was told that that the media was exaggerating or misrepresenting his words, even though the audio from the press conference and interview tells a different story (available on the web directly); and that Dr. Trenberth was accurately reflecting conclusions from the TAR, even though it is quite clear that the TAR stated that there was no connection between global warming and hurricane activity. The IPCC leadership saw nothing to be concerned with in Dr. Trenberth's unfounded pronouncements to the media, despite his supposedly impartial important role that he must undertake as a Lead Author on the upcoming AR4.

It is certainly true that "individual scientists can do what they wish in their own rights", as one of the folks in the IPCC leadership suggested. Differing conclusions and robust debates are certainly crucial to progress in climate science. However, this case is not an honest scientific discussion conducted at a meeting of climate researchers. Instead, a scientist with an important role in the IPCC represented himself as a Lead Author for the IPCC has used that position to promulgate to the media and general public his own opinion that the busy 2004 hurricane season was caused by global warming, which is in direct opposition to research written in the field and is counter to conclusions in the TAR. This becomes problematic when I am then asked to provide the draft about observed hurricane activity variations for the AR4 with, ironically, Dr. Trenberth as the Lead Author for this chapter. Because of Dr. Trenberth's pronouncements, the IPCC process on our assessment of these crucial extreme events in our climate system has been subverted and compromised, its neutrality lost. While no one can "tell" scientists what to say or not say (nor am I suggesting that), the IPCC did select Dr. Trenberth as a Lead Author and entrusted to him to carry out this duty in a non-biased, neutral point of view. When scientists hold press conferences and speak with the media, much care is needed not to reflect poorly upon the IPCC. It is of more than passing interest to note that Dr. Trenberth, while eager to share his views on global warming and hurricanes with the media, declined to do so at the Climate Variability and Change Conference in January where he made several presentations. Perhaps he was concerned that such speculation - though worthy in his mind of public pronouncements – would not stand up to the scrutiny of fellow climate scientists.

I personally cannot in good faith continue to contribute to a process that I view as both being motivated by pre-conceived agendas and being scientifically unsound. As the IPCC leadership has seen no wrong in Dr. Trenberth's actions and have retained him as a Lead Author for the AR4, I have decided to no longer participate in the IPCC AR4.

Sincerely,
Chris Landsea

The behavior of Dr. Trenberth as exposed by Dr. Landsea exposes the reality of global warming, it is a political issue, not a scientific one. The current Climategate scam has shown that advocates are willing to corrupt data that they do not agree with.

Not surprisingly many of the advocates are just turning a blind eye to their disgrace. Much of the media is helping by not spreading the story. If only they would give half as much energy fact checking climate politics as they do Sarah Palin the American public would be much more informed.

I believe this example shows better than almost any other the reality of climate science and politics. Quite simply climate science ceased being science and started becoming political issue a long time ago.

Hopefully the world is waking up to the fraud being perpetrated upon it.

What an idiot.

The following comes from Michael Moore's website.

Dear President Obama,
Do you really want to be the new "war president"? If you go to West Point tomorrow night (Tuesday, 8pm) and announce that you are increasing, rather than withdrawing, the troops in Afghanistan, you are the new war president. Pure and simple. And with that you will do the worst possible thing you could do -- destroy the hopes and dreams so many millions have placed in you. With just one speech tomorrow night you will turn a multitude of young people who were the backbone of your campaign into disillusioned cynics. You will teach them what they've always heard is true -- that all politicians are alike. I simply can't believe you're about to do what they say you are going to do. Please say it isn't so.

Obama campained on staying in and finishing the campaign in Afghanastan. Moore and other liberals don't have a clue what the man said on the campaign trail they just projected what they wanted on Mr. Hope & Change.

Oh yeah he promised to close Gitmo in a year. (Not going to happen)

He said he wanted us out of Iraq. (He just stuck to Bush's plan)

What magical land of make believe does this idiot live in?

Mike Huckabee.

The news is out that the monster who shot 4 cops over the weekend was let out of prison by Mike Huckabee.

They had him for life, they should have left him in prison.

Guess the number game

10,000

UPDATE: Jack nailed it. 10,000. Number of cancer deaths that could be saved in the UK if it were not for their universal health care system.

Elderly still getting short end of the "stick"

Okay, it's not a new issue, but an article today brought home once again the ugly reality of health care rationing in the utter failure of the handling of the H1N1 vaccine. The virus continues to evolve. And some of us personally might not have placed much faith or trust in the particular vaccine, but it still serves as an example of what is to come if government-run health care goes through.

This is America, folks. The shortage of H1N1 vaccine should not have occured. Obama called the infection a "national emergency," yet health officials during his watch failed to get the job done for all Americans. Kids were said to be especially susceptable to the virus, but there was not enough to go around there, much less to people 65 and older with serious medical conditions. In fact, the article said that some seniors were afraid to question the vaccine rationing policy, worried their Social Security might be cut off if they complained. These kinds of fears will only increase with the more power Uncle Sam grabs over our lives.

Anyone who is not concerned about the scarcity of health treatment if the government takes control of the system is a fool. Go ahead and shrug off the concerns of people older or weaker, but when the next bad bug comes around, the next one in line for triage just might be you.

The data that we used to sound the alarm about global warming....

Yeah, it doesn't exist, but trust us.

Seriously, anyone who believes in this any more has a screw loose.

Racine Left Post Shuts off Comments.

If ever a local website was more in any local politicians corner than Cory Mason I don't know what it could be.

Mason is out with a ridiculous proposal to pass toxic toys legislation in Wisconsin. I guess somehow the Consumer Protection wing of the Federal Government is not good enough for Mr. Mason. Commenters said so and now Dustin Block has cut off comments calling them, "especially nasty".

This is the same Racine Left Post that has placed multiple Cory Mason puff pieces in recent weeks while never covering Cory Mason's vote against bringing resources to Racine County to fund fraud investigation into the Wisconsin Shares program. The same Racine Left Post that jumped on the Tom Barrett bid for Governor on day one but has never written one word about Scott Walker's candidacy.

This is the same Racine Left Post where the daughter of one of the authors there, Pete Selkowe, works for Cory Mason.

The Racine Left Post does a better job of covering community events than anyone, I am a huge fan of what they do in that area. However, when they turn political their bias is so blatant it is becoming ridiculous. Sure, I have a bias, I admit it up front. Dustin and Pete claim to be objective but their writing proves otherwise. Their website would be twice as good if they were honest in their political reporting.

Before comments were turned off one of the readers there asked if someone could photoshop Cory Mason's head onto the baby with the poison bib... I'm not very good at photo editing, but here you go.

It is a shame the Post cut off comments on that thread. Feel free to comment about it here.

Hide The Decline - Climategate

Brilliant.

Precious...

This is a comment from a Boston Globe thread on the hoax that is global warming. A reader at Sykes site pointed it out.

Most of these posts are so delusional. It's being reported that the "hacked emails" supposedly discrediting the work of East Anglian climatologists were planted by a right-wing conspiracy funded by GOP shadow corporations. Bush, Cheney and their cronies will do anything to discredit global warming so they can all keep getting rich from the irresponsible burning of fossil fuels. True leaders like Presidents Gore and Obama are trying to save the globe from devastation at the hands of solipsistic and unprincipled right-wing extremists who appeal to the lowest common denominator of human intelligence, which is very much on display in these posts.

What a precious little nutball this person is. So, some right-wing extremist planted damning evidence while being funded by shadow GOP corporations? Big Oil no doubt. Thank God we have President Gore on the job to save us all.

One things these idiots never have is facts to back them up.

By the way, still waiting for apologies from the left r.e. the Kentucky suicide that was labeled as a right-wing hate killing....
