Folkidiot sent me this link last night with a snarky request to do another post on melting Arctic ice.
Click it if you want to but I'll save you the trouble, "scientists" are now warning that the pole could be free of ice in five years.
Folkidiot fails to see the point of the posts I have already made on the issue is that we had an alarmist "scientist" already making the claim that the pole would be ice free THIS year and of course a willing media spread that ridiculous chicken little claim with glee. (And not in a, "Hey look at what the crackpot is saying" tone).
By the way, they are basing this claim on one weeks worth of data. Ice melts in the summer, ALERT THE MEDIA. I do find it amazing how global warming alarmists like folkidiot will cling to a story based on one weeks worth of data if it works to their benefit but throw out other issues if they feel a short period of information is used to debunk their claims. Classic liberal selective application.
So now other alarmist weenies are making the same claim five years out, big freaking deal.
While we are at it did you see this story Jay? It is in German but here is a translation, "this year, there was an exceptional amount of ice - according to expedition leader Prof. Gerhard Kattner. The extent reached from the high North southward to 74 degrees latitude. The main objective of the research cruise was to check 17 moorings with instruments that monitor temperature, salinity and currents of the water masses. AWI has been carrying out these unique high-latitude investigations since 1999. Observed 2008 temperatures are slightly lower than 2006 measurements, and there are preliminary indications of a return of the pacific water mass signature, which has been absent since 2004″
By the way Jay, what is your position on the record cold summer in Alaska this year? Yes, I know, one season doesn't mean anything, but then one week does.

Here ya go Jay.
