Humor Me.

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her out to some place expensive...

So I took her to a gas station.

Interesting Article

Interesting article here on the world-view of the Katrina aftermath.

I still do not know how I feel about the relief efforts. They appear to be very slow, but logistics have been a nightmare for all involved in trying to give aide. Let us turn complaint into positive energy towards helping those in need.

I would enourage all of you to dig deep and give whatever you can to help. I dropped a check yesterday at the Racine Salvation Army office.

Let us not turn this into a bashing session, but a forum for positive ideas on how we can help people.

Direct from Cindy

Well, George and I are leaving Crawford today. George is finished playing golf and telling his fables in San Diego, so he will be heading to Louisiana to see the devastation that his environmental policies and his killing policies have caused. Recovery would be easier and much quicker if almost ½ of the three states involved National Guard were not in Iraq. All of the National Guard's equipment is in Iraq, also. Plus, with the 2 billion dollars a week that the private contractors are siphoning from our treasury, how are we going to pay for helping our own citizens in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama? And, should I dare say "global warming?" and be branded as a "conspiracy theorist" on top of everything else the right-wingers say about me.

Uh no Cindy we do not have to say anything anymore, you do a fine job of portraying yourself.

Let me be the first to suggest Cindy '08. Run Cindy Run!

Sowa Still AWOL

I have made simple and repeated requests of the Justin Sowa campaign to forward me information on the candidate's resume. All have gone unanswered.

Mr. Sowa is running in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District against Paul Ryan.

I have gone easy and been nothing but polite to this point, but I am getting ticked off at the silence coming from the Sowa campaign.

This is from his campaign website:

The Patriot Act

The USAPatriot Act has done almost nothing to help protect average citizens from another terrorist attack. Instead what it has done is violated the civil liberties that we hold so dear. If elected, I will work to remove the worst portions of this law, like the ability of the federal government to look at what books you check out of the library, and their ability to secretly search your home, with no one knowing, while keeping those measures that make sense.

I challenge candidate Sowa, or anyone else for that matter, to show me one person who's civil liberties have been violated by digging into library records. Truth of the matter is folks we have been almost 48 months without attack on our soil. The Patriot Act is working, and it is working well.

What the Patriot Act does people is allow us to go after terrorists using much the same rules in which law enforcement attacks organized crime, or should we treat them with kid glove as Jamie Gorelick would of had us?

There are plenty of issues our there Mr. Sowa, why don't you pick one that has some teeth to it, instead of knit picking Feingold's playbook.

Oh, and answer the simple requests of voters in your district before they get really ticked off and start making a real stink.

$3 a gallon

I just heard on the radio gas is up to $2.99 a gallon out there, thank God I filled my tank Sunday evening.

So much to speak about here. I understand Katrina will push up prices, but she just blew ashore yesterday for cryin out loud. Tell me the actual cost of fuel went up that quick? Not on your life.

I'm the biggest capitalist pig I know, but these Oil companies are really scum. They are sitting on record profits and delight in any opportunity to jack up prices.

So what shall we talk about? Have you altered your driving patterns? Have you changed any plans due to transportation costs? How crappy the Bush energy bill really is?

So much to rant about. We are not driving anywhere so may as well complain about it!

Why the left will never win another National election.

This is from Mark Green of the Huffington Post:

We owe Pat Robertson and Ann Coulter a big thank you. These two American mullahs of the far (f)right are helping to expose how The Bush Team is in the extreme and we who question this war most prominently Cindy Sheehan are in the mainstream.

I'll grant the fact that Ann Coulter and Pat Robertson are out there, no argumentnt.

However, if the left really thinks Cindy Sheehan is the mainstream??? I like to win so I hope Mark Green is right. It would appear the amount of coverage she is getting would tend to prove that position.

Oh and by the way, this so called grass-roots effort of hers appears to be a carefully planned public relations event.

So keep thinking Cindy is mainstream, the right will keep winning, the left will scream louder, the right will win some more, the left will think Michael Moore would be a good candidate, they will lose again, the right will win some more, and finally someone will come up with a decent second party.

Hypocritic Oaf Awards

For this week's Hypocritic Oaf Award we will turn inward. Earlier this week a poster who went anonymous on their post had the audacity to attack the credibility of Gary Qualls. Anonymous left a link pointing to a blog entry that attacked Mr. Quall's because he was supportive of the President and said he had no credibility because he had been photographed hugging Cindy Sheehan. I would submit that offering comfort to a fellow parent who had lost a child is not exactly an endorsment of their speach, but a momoent of support for their loss.

I attach a photo of Cindy Sheehan receiving a kiss from President Bush, no mention of that in said post.

The larger point of the original post was to draw attention to the fact that Cindy Sheehan spoke at an event in support of Lynne Stewart who was found guilty earlier this year of assisting Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman in communication with his terrorist allies in Egypt. (Remember him, the ringleader behind the first Trade Center bombing?)

Mr. Qualls was brought up only as a comparison in the amount of coverage Ms. Sheehan was getting in comparison to Pro-Bush events. Attacking Mr. Qualls while ignoring the larger point about the Sheehan/Stewart connection was ridiculous.

So Anonymous, whoever you are, congratulations on your Hypocritic Oaf award. Oh, and next time, try and keep it a bit more on subject.

As always your input is welcome for nominees to the Hypocritic Oaf Award.
