So word is coming down Rehnquist will resign today, I'll believe it when I see it.

Something needs to be said here, this will likely result in not 2, but 3 nomination votes.

Rehnquist will likely be replaced by Scalia (maybe Thomas) as Chief Justice. This will require a Senate Confirmation, then the Associate Justice who will replace the new Chief will require a separate confirmation, and finally the O'Connor replacement we are already aware of.

There is precedent to nominate someone who is not on the court as chief, but I do not think that will come into play.

My guess is The Senate Dem's will fight all 3 tooth and nail.

Changed their mind.

I took the following from the Racine Journal Times' forums today. This person I admire.

Changed my mind... wrote:
It looks like al-Quida is testing countries. They tested the Austrailians with the Bali bombings. It didn't work. They tested Spain. Unfortunately the Spanish caved and fled Iraq. Now they're testing the Brits. Hopefully it won't work.Of course, we've been tested in the U.S., too. Based on our actions in Afghanistan, we've stood firm.Iraq is a whole different situation, but it has evolved into a direct fight with the terrorists and we need to stay firm there. I wasn't a supporter of the Iraq war initially and I still say we went from the wrong reasons. But now I say we need to keep fighting there to keep the terrorists from striking here.

My favorite Fred

Yeah those of you who know me would think me favorite Fred is.... well... me.

I Love Fred Dalton Thompson. I was saddened when he got out of public office, I always thought we would be great for higher office. He has kind of a home-spun charm that just works well in the public sector.

W's move of asking Fred Thompson to guide his nominee through the nomination process was nothing short of brilliant.

Thompson knows the players and has more media savvy in his little finger than most do in their whole beings.

Thompson will be able to cut through the rhetoric and speak to the people in language they can understand.

Comments Please.... Name your favorite Fred.. (perhaps Mr. Rodgers?)

90 Dead in London.

5:18 AM Let this serve a a reminder as to the reason we are fighting terrorists, wherver they are. By the time you read this you will surely know about the multiple explosions among London's mass transit system.

These cowards attack innocents by stealth, that is just completely unacceptable behavior. I am waiting for the comments blaming this on Bush, they will show up quickly. I will refer them to my earlier post on Sadham and his endosement of terrorist behavior.

I pray for the citizens and leaders there.

Stepp vs Lehman

State Rep John Lehman is on the warpath against Cathy Stepp of Racine. They went after her today on the floor. Catch the audio here.

They are trying to make her look bad by claiming she is costing RUSD money. Fact of the matter is under the Proposed budget Racine stands to gain 15 million in additional school funding. Just because Senator Stepp is not in favor of Doyle's 900 million dollar increase in funding does not mean she is costing the district money. This is typical Democratic dirty pool.
How is being in favor of an increase almost 3x the rate of inflation weak on school funding? you can not logically make that argument.

You heard it here first, Lehman will run against Stepp on an education platform saying she is weak on bring home the dollars to the district.

I will also predict Lehman will go down in flames, Cathy Stepp has been a fine rookie Senator and deserves a second term. She will get one.

Graham is insane too!

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said, "Well, replacing a Supreme Court justice is very important, but they come and go. Really what I think is at stake is the reputation of the Senate. Can we have a confirmation process that will hold the Senate up to the world and the nation as a deliberative body made up of men and women who are serious about their job, or will it break down into some food fight?"

Are you seriously telling me Graham is more concerned with his reputation over a supreme court nominee?

These people are so fall of themselves it is out of control.

A Few Gems.... Thanks Patti

Ted Kennedy is insane

Yesterday while on with Stefanopolis Senator Kennedy said he hoped President Bush would not abuse his power by appointing a Justice who would "set the court back".

A shout out to Senator Kennedy. Uh Senator, United States President can appoint anyone they feel like appointing, that is the way this works. I hate to be the one to clue you in on this Senator, but if you want to be the one to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, you need to run for President again. (Try winning this time)

Senator Kennedy I know you think it is your birthright to run this country, but I double checked the last election and your side lost. You are trying to pretend you are in the majority but the last time I checked 45% of seats is the minority out of 100.

But go ahead Senator, if you keep coming completely unglued like you have over the last several years I think you will find out what it is like to be in an even smaller minority. Oh and keep comsulting with Howie Dean and Harry Reid. I do hope all of you have filled your prescriptions on your blood pressure medications.

I heard a great idea the other day, nominating Kenneth Starr to fill the O'Connor seat. Brilliant.

Just the thought of it will make many of my leftie friends heads spin around in circles. I'll alert my Chiropractor.....

Reid this.

As we go into this all out war from the left I would like to remind everyone about Ruth Bader-Ginsberg.

Does everyone remember what her job was when she was nominated? Head of the ACLU. The most leftist group in the country. You would think those on the right would of objected.

And what was her confirmation vote? 99-0. You see the senators on the right have the opinion that the President should be able to nominate whom he wants as long as they are qualified.

That level of civility does not exist on the left. For them everything is war. Bringing the country together to them is the right bending to their will, they will not budge an inch. Senator Reid has already flatly rejected 3 names, this is going to be ugly and it truly should not be.

I hope Majority leader Frist uses his power and does not let Reid and the other obstructionists on the left block this.
